Our Founder

Our founder Karen Sweeney is a volunteer of many years at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. When she started her volunteering she pulled a red wagon around the hospital from room to room. Karen was shocked at the limited supplies available to the children. Karen gathered her friends together and raised the funds to begin Healing Arts Reaching Kids (HARK).

Ten years later, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has a very large room dedicated to art and music supplies, the Expressive Arts Therapy Program is thriving and it has been documented that the children have a 20% better healing rate when the arts are added into their care. Karen has made a difference in thousands of children's lives and is an inspiration to us all.
