Dear Hark,

On behalf the nurses on 6-West, I wanted to thank you for restocking the Art Box! I consistently utilize the art box for everything from providing incentives for ambulation after surgery, sibling engagement, or to help kids be kids again. As you know, the hospital is a rough place to be for anyone. The resources provided by the art box enable patients to create something that is their onward control their narrative in a way that cannot be expressed by words (or tears).

I had a patient earlier this week who was especially tearful that he was away from his sister for an extended period of time because of hospitalization. However, when his sister came in and saw him connected to multiple lines and tubes, she was afraid to play with him. I sensed the tension and pulled out a coloring book so they could sit and color together. Instantly, they were transported to an environment that felt much more like their own.

I am so grateful for everything that you all do to help touch the lives of these patients during their most vulnerable moments. Thank you again!
